Overview

OffList is a mega-app that promotes businesses to consumers both online, through its own platform, and offline, through a monthly print magazine, positioned as the exclusive source of special discounts across Canada. It is one of the more widely used platforms among ADAB's subsidiaries, and one of the clearest real-world examples of the technology architecture described on the Technology page actually running in production.

The Challenge

A discounts and discovery platform lives or dies on two things most competitors treat as separate problems: keeping consumers engaged enough to check the app regularly, and keeping the businesses listed on it confident that the platform is actually driving them customers. Most discount apps solve for one and neglect the other. OffList needed both solved at once, and needed a way to bridge its digital presence with an offline audience that a purely app-based competitor could not reach.

The Approach

The platform was built around a dual channel model from the start rather than adding an offline component later as an afterthought. The online product handles real-time discovery, browsing, and redemption. A monthly print magazine extends the same catalog of offers to an audience that print still reaches more effectively than a notification ever could. Behind both sits a single professional management dashboard, giving every listed business one place to manage its offers, see real engagement, and update availability, instead of juggling a separate portal for its digital and print presence.

The dashboard was the real unlock, once a business could see genuine engagement numbers instead of guessing, they started treating OffList as a real channel instead of a side listing.

The Result

OffList has become one of the more widely used platforms among ADAB's own subsidiaries and outside businesses alike, with its combination of online reach and offline print distribution giving it a genuinely distinct position among discount platforms operating in Canada. It remains an actively maintained, live product, continuing to run on the same shared technology foundation every other ADAB system is built on.
